Boreback Mountain

Am I the only one who was mostly bored with Brokeback Mountain? It had about 3 good scenes; the rest was pretty much a yawn-fest. Jake and Heath looked fab, as did Anne Hathaway's hair which got blonder and blonder each scene.

Still a good movie; but, it is definitely a DVD movie in that you need to be seated in the comfort of your own home and watch it at your own pace.

Sandra Uh-Oh!

Am I the only one who noticed Canadian actress Sandra Oh's faux-pas on last night's (29 Jan 06) SAG awards? She referred to herself as "Asian-American". Her exact words were:

"This is unbelievable. I thank every single actor out there. I'm so grateful for having a job," Oh said. "To all my fellow Asian-American actors out there, I share this with you, and be encouraged and keep shining."

We constantly co-opt American cultural references and identity even when it is absolutely ridiculous and inappropriate to do so! The sad and pathetic fact is that any Canadian who saw that probably never even noticed it; we are so used to the term being used on U.S. television and movies that we think it applies to us as well.

It doesn't.

Get your own identity Canada!!!

A Canadian Wedding

Canadians are starting to spread their 'right-wings' as they vote in a Conservative government.

A shabby Liberal government took it's final stumble this past election period that concluded with a poorly orchestrated campaign and past daemons still haunting voters.
But.
The Liberal party could wipe out my entire family and I would still vote LIBERAL as Stephen Harper and the Conservative party is insane.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper (dress) has publicly admitted to favouring a U.S.-style government, and is openly anti-same sex marriage, anti-choice, pro-Iraqi war, anti-gay and pro 'traditional family values'.

It's the Mulroney years all over again.

Lord help us.

Argued over play script, two now face gun charges
20 January 2006. 01.47pm
PAUL CHOI
STAFF REPORTER

Two students who were arrested yesterday after a gun was pulled out during a dispute at a North York secondary school over a play script now face several gun-related charges.

The incident happened about 12.30pm at Emery Collegiate Institute, near Weston Rd. and Finch Ave. W. Several witnesses reported seeing a male student pull out a handgun during an altercation with another student, police said.

Police said the suspect threatened the student with death before handing the gun over to another suspect, who ran off. Both students were later sent to the principal’s office (LOL!).

The dispute, which police said was over a play script, forced a three-hour lockdown of the school as police searched for the gun.

Officers have still not been able to recover the firearm.
Hansen Nti, 18, and Michael Danquah, 18, both of Toronto, have been arrested and face a combined seven charges, including assault with a weapon and threatening death.

VOTE LIBERAL

VOTE LIBERAL. Steven Harper is from Alberta for chrissake! The man is a yankee-loving, gay-hating, anti-choice goof who should never have been allowed in any kind of political office. VOTE LIBERAL.
