Yoo-hoo! Sulu!

Sulu comes out of the closet

ASSOCIATED PRESS LOS ANGELES — George Takei, who as helmsperson Sulu steered the Starship Enterprise through three television seasons and six movies, has come out as a homosexual in the current issue of Frontiers, a biweekly Los Angeles magazine covering the gay and lesbian community.

The current social and political climate motivated Takei's disclosure, he said.
"The world has changed from when I was a young teen feeling ashamed for being gay," he said. "The issue of gay marriage is now a political issue. That would have been unthinkable when I was young.''
The 68-year-old actor said he and his partner, Brad Altman, have been together for 18 years.

Uh...yeah. The man is HUNDREDS of years old and living large off of Star Trek royalties and we're supposed to be all ''you're so brave for coming out"? Whateva. I do like the "as a homosexual'' part though.

Stonesbucks

Good old-fashioned ROCK AND ROLL!!! Yeah, DUDE!!! Rolling Stones: Keeping it 'real'.

NEW YORK (AP) — Coffee giant Starbucks and Virgin Records are co-releasing a CD of rare Rolling Stones remixes, B-sides and hard-to-find live recordings, the band announced on its Web site Wednesday.

Maybe they'll change the names of drinks to commemorate this auspicious occasion? 'Tall Jagger', 'Short Jones'; 'Ruby Tuesday Smoothie', 'Brown Sugar Latte'.

The Amazing Muppet Race

Christ. If you thought that US reality TV had ‘jumped the shark’ with Amazing Race Family – plans are in the works for a reality show to find a new, wait for it: MUPPET.

'ABC has ordered a script and five episode outlines for America's Next Muppet, in which viewers may join in choosing the newest member of the puppet family that includes Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, a network spokeswoman said Tuesday.'

Miss Piggy and Paula Abdul; yeah, I can see that...

Rachel Aid

Rachel Stevens (of SCLUB 7) is doomed to obscurity after the flop of her second album "Come and Get It''. This album should've topped the charts, instead it limped in at no.23. This straight forward no bullshit pop album is THE best pop album of 2005 and easily one of the best since the Spice Girls released 'Spice World' in '97. A critical success, the album isn't shifting the amount of copies it should (the opposite usually being the case with pop records).

Buy this album. Help support Rachel Stevens and keep good pop alive. I cannot endure another Hilary Duff or Avril Latrine song.

The hypocrisy of: "Cocaine Kate".

The hypocrisy of the whole Kate Moss Cocaine fiasco irritates me to no end. The same industry that praised Kate for her waif, malnourished body and ‘heroin chic’ appeal’ are now denouncing her for sniffing some cocaine. Drugs are wrong, yes; however, those same publishers and company executives who fired her and are shaking their self-righteous, hypocritical finger at her are doing the same and worse. Can we say scapegoat? I can’t believe the public has seemingly fallen for this ‘we can’t believe she did it’ and ‘we do not endorse such behaviour’ crap.
