Amazon.ca vs Amazon.co.uk

Yeah, so, I recently purchased a CD from http://www.amazon.co.uk. The same CD was available on http://www.amazon.ca. It is a UK band and the CD is not yet available in Canada domestically.

The price on amazon.ca was $38.99 CDN before tax and shipping and handling charges. Including those, the price would go up to about $50.

Now. I bought the exact CD from amazon.co.uk for ... and this is after converting pounds to dollars and the shipping and handling cost ... $21.50! Christ! That's a saving of over $25.

Canadians: when buying import CDs via amazon.ca, go to the source country (in this case it was England). You'll fare much better.

I also bought a boxset for the equivalent of $89.99 CDN while amazon.ca had it listed for $159.99! I saw it in the shoppes here in Toronto and it was listed for 129.99 - a saving still of over $40.

Do not buy DVDs unless you have an 'non-regional' DVD player.

(BANG) - Victoria Beckham had a blazing row with an actress who has been linked to her husband David - and warned the woman to leave the soccer ace alone.
Furious Victoria is said to have branded 50-year-old Ana Obregon "a piece of s**t" after growing angry at Spanish media speculation surrounding the blonde actress and David.
The former Spice Girl has been subjected to months of false rumours linking David and Obregon, who reportedly regularly frequents bars and restaurants the England captain is known to go to.
Sparks flew when Victoria and Obregon bumped into each other in a Madrid gym.
A source is quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "They were screaming at each other. It wasn't pretty. Luckily it didn't come to blows."
Other gym-goers told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper Victoria warned Obregon to stay away from David, saying: "Why would he be interested in an old lady like you? Leave my husband alone."
She also told the actress - who was allegedly wearing a pair of hot pants - to "go get some clothes on and act your age".
Victoria's spokeswoman said: "We're not going to comment as it will only give this publicity-seeking woman even more exposure."

I am deeply distressed over this. The double-decker busses were part of London's charm; moving architecture if you will. They will be sadly missed.

LONDON (AP) - After half a century, London's red Routemaster buses are rattling into retirement.

Thousands of fans said farewell to the hop-on, hop-off buses Thursday, the last full day of regular service for the icon that has been the subject of thousands of tourists' photographs and postcards.
Transport authorities are withdrawing the blunt-nosed double-decker from its last route - the 159 from Marble Arch to Streatham Hill - on Friday. The final Routemaster was leaving central London just after noon, bound south of the river to a bus garage in Brixton.
"My experience of London is diminished by their passing," said Travis Elborough, author of the Routemaster book The Bus We Loved.
Many Londoners agree. In a poll last month for the city's Evening Standard newspaper, 81 per cent opposed scrapping the Routemaster.
